ABOUT Phase 3

In September 2020, we launched Stage three in anticipation of the critical need of mid-sized arts and civilisation organizations as they implement new business organisation models for sustainability, consider mergers and program re-openings. In social club to make a commonage impact, nosotros are seeking $250,000 by Bound 2021.   Thanks to support from the Parker Foundation, the San Diego Foundation, the Sahm Family unit Foundation nosotros but have $100,000 more than to go…..and we have great news!  A local philanthropist is challenging the San Diego community to friction match dollar-for-dollar her donation up to $fifty,000 by March i then we tin reach our Stage 3 goal and begin the granting process as soon as possible.

Stage 3 Open up TO SUBMIT LETTERS OF INTENT (LOI)

Phase three of the San Diego Arts + Civilisation Challenge Fund is open to accept Letters of Intent (LOI) to utilize from San Diego County 501.c3 mid-sized arts and culture organizations with budgets ranging from $1.five Million to $iv Million based on a pre-COVID-xix, 2019 Actual Operating Budget. Grants will be in the range of $thirty,000 to $50,000.

WHY CHALLENGE FUNDS ARE STILL NEEDED

Based on current research by the Nonprofit Establish and a July 2020 study conducted by WolfBrown, non-turn a profit mid-sized arts groups will need funds to regain their footing equally they either reopen, have plans to merge or consolidate, or sadly, thoughtfully and legally close their doors. As demonstrated past our implementation of Phase 1 and ii, we have the capacity to exist nimble and pivot equally things modify from month to month, but at this time, here are the Claiming priorities for Phase 3 grant funds:

  1. Re-Commencement Capital – funds to support a coherent plan for programmatic reentry;

  2. Risk Capital – funds to back up planning and experimentation with promising new business practices occasioned past the crisis. This could include organization wide alter in Equity and Inclusion strategies and/or;

  3. Transformation Capital – funds for end-of-lifecycle transitions (e.g., mergers, consolidations), or to preserve or protect cultural avails in the event of insolvency.

BACKGROUND

The purpose of the San Diego Arts + Civilization Challenge Fund is to enhance money and to distribute gap funding to nonprofit arts and culture organizations based in San Diego City and Canton in response to the COVID-19 crunch.  In Stage I, the San Diego Regional Arts and Culture Coalition partnered with the San Diego Foundation to provide emergency relief to small-scale nonprofit organizations in San Diego County's agile and resilient creative sector.  32 grants were distributed totally $250,000.

In Phase 2, 225 donors supported relief directly to 121 artists that each received $ane,000.  Phase 3 is in the fund raising process to back up transformational support to mid-sized arts and culture or-ganizations to back up programmatic reentry, planning and experimentation with promising new business practices occasioned by the crisis, and for or end-of-lifecycle transitions (e.thou., mergers, consolidations or to preserve or protect cultural assets in the effect of insolvency.

SDRACC was proud to partner with Pacific Arts Move on the San Diego Artist Relief Fund, a mutual assist campaign that raised funds for Black, Ethnic, People of Color (BIPOC) artists and historically marginalized creative workers in our region.

The San Diego Artist Relief Fund distributed i-fourth dimension $1,000 grants to individual artists in San Diego Canton who are in dire financial need as a upshot of COVID-19.
